Formalin, dengan rumuskimia CH2O merupakan suatu larutan yang tidak berwarna, berbau tajam yang mengandung lebih kurang 37% formaldehid dalam air dan biasanya ditambahkan metanol 10-15% sebagai pengawet. Di pasaran formalin memiliki beberapa nama lain yaitu Formol, Morbicid, Methanal, Formic aldehyde, Methyl oxide, Oxymethylene, Methyl aldehyde, Oxomethane, Formoform, Formalith, Oxomethane, Karsan, Methylene glycols, Paraforin, Polyoxymethylene glycols, Superlysoform, Tetraoxymethylene, danTrioxane. 

Kegunaan Formalin
Formalin memiliki banyak kegunaan dan digunakan secara luas dalam berbagai bidang, diantaranya:
  • Sebagai desinfektan sering digunakan untuk pembersih lantai, kapal, gudang dan pakaian
  • Sebagai germisida dan fungisida pada tanaman dan sayur-sayuran.
  • Sebagai pembasmi lalat dan berbagai serangga lain.
  • Sebagai bahan baku dalam pembuatan sutra sintetis, zat pewarna, cermin kaca dan bahan peledak.
  • Sebaga ipengeras lapisan gelatin dan kertas di dunia fotografi.
  • Pembuatan pupuk lepas lambat (slow-release fertilizer).
  • Sebagai bahan baku dalam industrisintetis dar ibeberapa senyawa organik, misalnya
    1,4- butane diolpentaerythitiol, hexamethene-tetraminedan EDTA. Juga digunakan pada pabrik pewarna, produk dispersi, dan pestisida.
  • Digunakan pada beberapa produk farmasi sebagai pengawet.
  • Sebagai pengawet produk kosmetika, baha pembuat produk parfum dan pengeras kuku.
  • Pada konsentrasi<1%>
  • Sebagai pencegah korosi untuk sumurminyak.
  • Sebagai perekat produk kayu lapis (polywood).
Bahaya Formalin
Formalin merupakan bahan berbahaya yang dapat mengancam kesehata tubuh.Tubuh dapat terpapar formalin melalui saluran pencernaan (tertelan), kontak dengan kulit ataupun terhirup.Paparan formalin ini dapat menimbulkan gangguan kesehatan, baik gejala akut (jangkapendek) maupun gejala kronis (jangkapanjang).

Tomatoes provide the body with lycopene, a valuable source of nutrition. Lycopene has shown that it prevents damage to the cells causing cancers of many types. These include colon cancer, prostate cancer prevention, and also breast cancers. It is the folate mineral inside of a tomato that helps to ward off these cancers.
Vitamins C and A are also present in the tomato. Vitamin C is one vitamin that protects us from free radicals, which are those compounds that destroy cells that are healthy. Free radicals tear away at the immune system, and therefore promote viruses and other illnesses we don't want. Vitamin A on the other hand, plays a role in helping to improve your eyesight, as well as helping to strengthen your immunity from colds and flus. One cup of a natural tomato provides you with over 50 percent of vitamin C and right around 20 percent of your vitamin A.
Tomatoes are also strong in niacin, which is a vitamin that is water soluble. Niacin lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, so a healthy low fat diet that is rich in tomato sources should significantly lower your blood lipid levels.
Potassium is a mineral that your body needs in order to live. This mineral also has a lot to do with helping your nerves function properly right along with giving the proper strength to your body's muscles. Your risk of hypertension is also lessened through eating potassium rich foods. Tomatoes are a food that can provide you with a great potassium source along with bananas. They provide at least 10 percent of your daily requirement.
Tomatoes carry chromium too. Chromium is a mineral which helps to lower your blood sugar levels as well as certain types of migraine headaches.
Tomato juice helps with blood clotting. This is due to the fact that tomato juice has some unique properties which help to thin the blood and keep the platelets from sticking together.
Lastly, tomatoes contain vitamin K. Vitamin K is helpful to bone health since they provide about 19 percent of what your body needs daily. What vitamin K does is stimulate the action of osteocalcin. Osteocalcin is what makes up most of the bone's protein that is not collagen related. The osteocalcin levels that you have in your body will then attach itself to your bones, and hence, causes calcium to work in your favor.

There is a lot of nutrition in carrots if you take the time to look at the vitamins and minerals that they contain.  You would find that they have the ability to help with eye sight and even to help prevent cancer if they are consumed on a regular basis.  This article is going to look at some of the nutrients that can be found in carrots so that you will have a better understanding of what makes them so good for you.

The nutrition in carrots can be obtained any number of ways.  You can eat the carrots raw or cook them with a meal.  You can also spend a little bit of time juicing the carrots and drinking them.  Any way that you enjoy eating them is fine because they are still going to be good for you.  However, you do need to keep in mind that if you eat too many carrots you may begin to notice an orange tint to your skin.  This is normal and can actually be seen in small children that snack on carrots on a regular basis.

The nutrition in carrots includes carotene.  This is turned into vitamin A by the body and is an essential mineral for the body.  Carrots also include other vitamins like B1, B2, C, D, and vitamin E.  We all know that these are vitamins that our body needs to function properly and remain healthy.

Many people do not realize that carrots can help them lower their cholesterol.  That is because they have a high amount of calcium pectate.  The pectate works to lower the cholesterol in the body.  So, if you have high cholesterol and enjoy carrots, you can make them a daily snack to help improve this problem.  You could even add carrot juice to your breakfast menu and drink it along with cereal that helps reduce your cholesterol.  Consuming both of these each day will definitely have positive effects on your health.

Drinking carrot juice daily is a great way to obtain all of the nutrition in carrots.  You are going to be fighting against infection and other germs that can cause illness to your body.  You are also going to be helping your body maintain good eyesight because of the amount of vitamin A that is within the carrots.  The nutrition in carrots can also help you fight against cataracts later in life if you are eating them on a regular basis.  They are also known to help eliminate waste from the body because of some of the nutrients in carrots.  Many of the vitamins and minerals in them are used by the body to help the body get rid of toxic things that may be found in the body’s bloodstream.

It is easy to see that there is a lot of nutrition in carrots that your body needs to be healthy and function properly.  Even though you can find many of these vitamins and minerals in other foods that you consume, if you know that you can get all of it from one carrot you could eat them instead.  It is very easy to make carrots a part of your everyday diet.  You could begin by cutting some of them up and placing them in a bag.  Carry them with you so that you can eat them as a snack.  You can do the same thing for your child in his or her lunch.  You could even place them in a juicer and drink them if you would like.  The nutrition in carrots should be taken advantage of.  Therefore, start making them part of your meal.
